Virat Kohli scored his 46th ODI century against Sri Lanka on Sunday when India take on Sri Lanka in third One Day International. Kohli played just 85 balls to reach his 74th international century and second century of year 2023. Virat overtook Sachin Tendulkar to set new records after striking a hundred.Kohli maintained his outstanding performance and joined the elite group of top 5 ODI run scorers.
The New Year is very lucky for Virat as he hit back 2 back two centuries in this year, his first centuary came up against Sri Lanka in the first ODI where he smashed 113 runs. Sachin Tendulakar hold a record of scoring 20 centuries on home ground which has been broken by Virat Kohli when he score his 21st century in India.

Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka was surpassed by Kohli to become the top 5 batters in ODI history in terms of runs scored. In the elite list, he now trails only Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, and Sanath Jayasuriya.
Virat Kohli remains without 100 for almost 1214 days and it was like a drought for Kohli. The first century that came up after so manys days of struggle was against Bangladesh when India take a tour of Bangladesh.
