After losing to Argentina in the World Cup final, Aurelien Tchouameni, Kingsley Coman, and Randal Kolo Muani received hateful tweets on social media that were racially offensive. While Tchouameni and Coman both missed penalties in the shootout, Kolo Muani missed a chance to win the game in overtime.
Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez denied Coman's penalty kick and Tchouameni's attempt from the spot to give Argentina their third World Cup victory overall and their first since 1986. Tchouameni of Real Madrid reportedly receives few comments on his Instagram postings. They were turned off by Eintracht Frankfurt's Kolo Muani.
Bayern Munich has issued a statement of support for Coman, condemning the racist remarks made about him."The FC Bayern family is behind you, King. Racism has no place in sport or our society," they said on Twitter.
The event is comparable to the racial slurs hurled at England players Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Bukayo Saka after their defeat to Italy in the 2018 Euro 2020 final.

The corporation that owns Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, Meta, denounced the nasty posts and made it clear that the vile racial statements had been taken down."We don't want racist abuse on Instagram, and we've removed the disgusting comments for breaking our rules.
"We also want to help protect people from having to see this abuse in the first place, which is why we've developed Hidden Words, a feature that filters offensive comments and DMs, and Limits, which hides comments and DMs from people who don't follow you, or only followed you recently.
"We're in touch with players and their teams directly, including since yesterday's final, to offer them support and help them turn on these tools," Meta said in a statement.
